I am overjoyed that the third season of Friday Night Lights is now airing on the NBC Friday night line up at 9pm ET. This season has already aired on Direct TV and this is the first time it will be airing on NBC for everyone to be able to enjoy.
Friday Night Lights is one of those rare quality shows on TV right now. It has amazing acting, people dealing with realistic problems in realistic ways (with a small exception made for the Landry storyline in Season 2), an ensemble of characters that you actually care about, and the best part is that you don't have to love football to love this show. There is true heart involved in each storyline.
I am not alone in my opinion that Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton portray one of the best married couples to grace the screen. The fact that they have not been nominated for any awards for their performances it truly a tragedy. It only reflects how awards and nominations do not always go to the most deserving shows or actors. There are moments where each character get to shine throughout the two seasons that I have seen so far. The entire cast is excellent.
At first, I was hesitant to watch this show because I am not the biggest fan of watching football. So I rented the first season when it was released on DVD. By disc two I went out and bought the whole set to own. I was hooked!
This show has been struggling in the ratings and I do not think that airing it when the majority of its target audience will be out on a Friday night is helping. I can only hope that more people will be watching the show this time around. I would love to get a fourth season!
Now that the third season is starting to air on NBC, I highly recommend renting the first and second season of this excellent show to introduce yourself to these characters in Dillon, Texas. My guess is that you will be rooting for the Panthers in no time!
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!!!!
